Chapter 3 - Configuring Staffinder Settings

Setting Basic Preferences

There are only a few settings that can be made to customize Staffinder Web for each individual.  You access these setting via the Preferences menu button on the navigation bar.

User Preferences are broken down into a number of key areas, they are detailed below:

General
  1. Refresh::  This allows you to specify how often the browser will auto refresh to keep the list up to date.
  2. Password:  This is where you change your password for logging in.
  3. Photo Size:  If your organization wishes to use personal photos then you can set the photo size here. This determins how big the photo will be displayed in the browser. Select "Hide" to completely hide the photo column.
  4. Change My Status when I Login:  If you would like Staffinder to change your status whenever you log in then you can check this option. You can specify which status option you wish to be chaged to.
  5. Automatically Select me in the Browser:  Checking this option will always select your name in the browser each time you navigate to the browser page.

Click the Save button to save your changes.

My Group

My group is a custom view of individuals you frequently need to track the whereabouts for.  In large organizations you may only want to see people who are in your department or area.  With this view you can customize a list of people to make it easier to locate them.

To add a person to the group you simply check their name in the list.  To remove a names just uncheck the box next to their name. once you have everyone you want selected you click the Save button to save the changes.

 

Notifications

This screen allows you to setup email notifications for individuals so you will receive an email whenever they change their status.

Email Address: This is the email address where the notification will be sent.  If you wish to have an email sent to multiple addresses you need to separate them with a colon ";".

Employee List:  Simply put a checkmark next to the individuals who you would like to be notified when they change their status.  This is permanent and you will continue to be notified until you clear the checkmark.

My Info

This screen allows you to keep your basic information up to date.  You can change this information at any time. This feature will only be available if your administrator has given permissions to edit your info.

Personal Scheduler Security

Staffinder will allow you to share you schedule amongst other individuals and even give them edit ability.  To allow someone to view your schedule move them from the list on the left to the list on the right.

View Disabled:  Click this option if you want to deny all employee access to view and make changes to your schedule.

View Enabled:  By selecting this option, you make the individual selections for who can view your schedule.  To add an individual simply click on the individual in the left list and click the right arrow button (or you can just double click on the row and that will move them left or right automatically). This will allow the person to view your schedule but not make any changes. If you wish to allow them to edit your schedule then check the box next to their name under "Allow Edit"

 

Security

Staffinder contains security settings that allow each employee to manipulate which employees, if any, can change their In/Out status or set their Do Not Disturb flag.  Below are the various settings that Staffinder will allow.

Security Disabled:  Click this option if you want to allow any employee to change your status from their desks.

Security Enabled:  By selecting this option, you make the choices below it available. To make it so no one can change your status then uncheck all the boxes below.

Receptionists can change my status :  This allows persons with Receptionist status to change your status from their desk.

My manager can change my status:  This allows the person assigned as your manager to change your status from their desk.

Employees in my department can change my status:   This allows all employees in your department to change your status

Custom Security:   Clicking the Settings button allows the user to specify other employees who need the ability to change their In/Out status.  The following screen is used to selected the individual employee(s).  Simply check the names of those individuals you wish to allow to change your status.

 

View Restrictions

This screen allows you hide yourself from others in your organization.  You have the option of specifying who can and cannot see you.  This is done on a person by person basis.  Those who are not allowed to see you will not see you in the browsers or any of the status screens.  You will show up in the various security screens and other administrative areas.  This allows others to add you to their security profiles so you can still see them.

Security Disabled:  Click this option if you want to allow all employee to view you.

Security Enabled:  By selecting this option, you make the individual selections.  To add an individual simply check the box next to their name.
